Sunbirds Dominate in Second Annual Ryder Cup Tournament

For the second straight year, the Sunbirds defeated the Snowbirds in the Ryder Cup Tournament held January 14 and 16 at Tatum Ridge. However, the margin of victory was substantially greater this year than in the inaugural event last year. Whereas the Sunbirds eked out a one-half point victory in 2014, they routed the Snowbirds in 2015 by a score of 29 to 18. The Snowbirds were trailing by 7 points after Day 1 of the tournament and needed a strong showing in the singles matches on Day 2, which they were unable to achieve.

Congratulations to Jon Lewis and Rich Slesinger who were the only two golfers to be on winning teams for both nines on Day 1 and to also win their singles matches on Day 2.

The Snowbirds were missing one of their stars, Stuart Macfarlane, due to illness and another Snowbird, Bob Clarke, had to withdraw from the tournament after the first day due to an undisclosed lower body injury.
